Météo Parlée (MeteoParlee) — Privacy Policy
Effective: 2 November 2026
Météo Parlée reads you a daily weather bulletin in French, answers your weather questions and compares a photo of the sky with the forecast. This page sets out exactly what the app keeps on your iPhone, what it sends, to whom, and why.
06h The app at a glance
- No account, no sign-in, no in-app purchases, no ads, no audience analytics, no ad tracking (ATT).
- Your bulletins, question history, saved advice and sky photos stay in the app’s storage on your device. There is no Météo Parlée server and no iCloud sync.
- Three outside services may receive data: Open-Meteo (forecasts), DeepSeek (assistant, only after you agree) and Apple (speech recognition, only when you dictate).
07h What you create in the app
- Questions to the assistant — typed or dictated — and the replies, kept as conversation history.
- Saved advice (umbrella, clothing, timing, general) when you tap “Enregistrer” on a proposal, with its validity window.
- Sky photos taken with the camera or picked from your library, stored as JPEG together with the sky reading (observed sky, match with the forecast, advice) in the “Observations du ciel” journal.
- Recent dictated questions: the latest 8 are kept as shortcut chips.
- Bulletins: temperature, feels-like, weather code, 24 hourly slots and the bulletin text, kept for offline display.
08h Device permissions
| Permission | When | Actual use |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | You tap to photograph the sky | One sky photo, analysed on device and kept in the journal. |
| Photo library (picker) | You choose a photo | The system picker only hands over the photo you choose; the app does not read your library. |
| Photos — add only | You export a “sky card” | Adds the composed image (photo, sky reading, city name) to Photos. No reading. |
| Microphone | You tap the mic in the question bar | Captures your question while dictating. No audio file is stored. |
| Speech recognition | First dictation | Transcribes the question in French with Apple’s Speech service (see below). |
| Location | Never requested in this version | The app declares the purpose but does not access your position. The bulletin covers the city shown (Paris by default). |
You can withdraw any permission in iOS Settings; the matching feature then stops working.
09h Purchases and Apple services
The app offers no purchases or subscriptions. Dictation uses Apple’s Speech framework; depending on your device Apple may process the audio on its servers, because the app does not force on-device recognition. That processing is covered by Apple’s privacy policy.
10h Tracking, analytics, ads and the AI assistant
No tracking, no ads, no analytics. The only AI processing is the assistant, provided by DeepSeek (api.deepseek.com, a model hosted by DeepSeek whose servers may be outside the European Union, including in China).
Before anything is sent, a “Partage de données avec l’assistant cloud” sheet asks for your consent. Without it (“Plus tard”) nothing goes to DeepSeek. You can withdraw consent in the app’s Réglages › Assistant cloud.
Sent to DeepSeek when you ask a question
- the city name and its coordinates (the city’s, not your position);
- today’s bulletin (temperature, feels-like, weather code, text) and up to 24 hourly slots (hour, temperature, chance of rain);
- up to 3 previously saved pieces of advice and the summary of the last one you kept;
- your question, as typed or transcribed.
Sent when you analyse a sky photo
- the photo itself is not sent: the app first analyses it on device (Apple Vision);
- what is sent: up to 10 visual labels with confidence, any text readable in the photo, average brightness and blue share, plus the same weather context as above.
DeepSeek’s reply comes back to the app and you decide whether to save or ignore the suggested advice. Avoid photographing people, number plates or documents: readable text in the photo is transmitted.
The app also contains text-to-speech and illustration connections to MiniMax, but they are not configured in this version: no data is sent to MiniMax.
11h Network and third parties
- Open-Meteo (api.open-meteo.com) receives the city’s coordinates and returns the forecast. No personal data is attached; like any server it sees the connection’s IP address.
- DeepSeek: see above; its own policy applies (linked from the consent sheet).
- Apple: speech recognition and iOS services.
We do not sell your data or share it for any other purpose.
12h Retention, deletion and security
- Data stays on the device until you delete it or the app; it is included in your iPhone backups if you make them.
- A sky observation is deleted with a swipe in the journal (its photo is erased with it).
- Question history, saved advice and recent dictations have no delete button in this version, and withdrawing AI consent does not erase them: deleting the app erases everything.
- Anything already sent to DeepSeek is kept under DeepSeek’s rules; we cannot delete it for you.
- Network traffic uses HTTPS. Local storage is protected by iOS encryption.
13h Changes
If the app changes what it sends or to whom, this page will be updated before that version ships, with a new effective date.
